Dialogue with a fish being grilled

cast not this reproachful eye oh suffering fish
when your crystal ball is destroyed
and my burning coals de-nature your love jelly

one day in the ocean deep
when stillness ruled and peace
you yearned to know and I paid

torture me not reproachful eye
culprit am I or your yearning's victim

when stillness ruled and all was straight
why oh why painful mother did you yearn?
and cast me into this agonising vision

blindfolded were you?
when with loving limbs soon to know the hate
you struggled and stretched to reach the pain of consciousness
and reaching it withered everafter in hope
for the darkness again
for the stillness that rules
and for all things straight
